Jiayi Liang is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York and Los Angeles. Originally from Dalian, China, her adventurous path has led her on an exploration both of cities and areas away from cities.

 

A recent road trip with photographer Sej Saraiya was taken to discover the photographic potential in some of those areas, and all of the photos in this exhibition were taking during that personally transforming journey.

 

As with her filmmaking, finding the story is key to her still-picture language too. With two recent exhibitions in Los Angeles and film screenings at Warner Bros. Studios, she is currently establishing her own photo and film studio in New York, creating work for the future that is deeply rooted in the soul.
